Project Description

This was an exciting brief from Haslams to redevelop the old gas and electric showroom in Reading to form their new Head Office and client- facing retail space.

We substantially reconfigured the internal space by removing the existing ground floor slab and inserting a new steel mezzanine at mid-level allowing the client to utilise the basement level more effectively and at the same time benefit from natural light to this area.

A complete strip out allowed us to expose the state of the existing building and identify original features that could be accentuated. Others required much cleaning and making good.  A combination of exposing, rebuilding and complementing materials was employed to create an urban environment.
